NEW JERSEY SET TO BAN COMMON HUNTING RIFLES

2nd-amendmentA bill has been sent to Governor Chris Christie’s desk in New Jersey that would have the effect of prohibiting many fixed-magazine weapons commonly used in hunting, and almost never in murders. The Truth About Guns has the scoop.

The gun ban that has gone to New Jersey Governor Christie for signature has been described as a “gun magazine restriction“, but it bans numerous common sport and hunting rifles. The ban has no exemption for rifles with fixed magazines, including most common .22 rimfire rifles that are used for sport and small game hunting…and almost never used in crimes. Assembly Bill 2006 bans rifles that meet this definition: (4) A semi-automatic rifle with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding [15] 10 rounds . . .

As Dean Weingarten notes, some common rifles have been modified from an original 17 shot clip capacity down to 15. The new New Jersey legislation would outlaw the modified ones as well.

John Hinderaker at Powerline Blog adds, “This ban on America’s most common and most inoffensive long gun has gone to Governor Chris Christie for signature. It seems almost inconceivable that any state could ban the .22 rifle in most of its iterations, but that is the age we live in. So this is an easy test for Christie: he should veto the .22 rifle ban. If he does so, it won’t tell us much except that he isn’t a complete fool. If he fails to veto the .22 ban, he will be exposed as a phony conservative who can’t be trusted with even the easiest of decisions.”  Governor Chris Christie has been inconsistent at best on 2nd Amendment issues, but last year he vetoed three gun control measures. So there may be hope yet in the Garden State.

Here is a list of common sporting rifles that would be banned by the law:

Browning  Semi-Auto .22
Colt Colteer and variants
Franchi Centennial .22
Marlin model 60 and variants
Norinco ATD .22 (Browning Clone)
Remington 6A and variants
Remington Nylon 66, clones, and variants
Remington 552
Remington 550
Remington 241
Savage model 87A and variants
Winchester model 74
Winchester 190, 290 and variants

(Article excerpted from TownHall.com & TheNation.com)

Last year, Governor Christie refused to sign three closely watched gun control bills, including a ban on .50 caliber sniper rifles.  Christie fully rejected the ban on .50 caliber rifles, five-foot-long snipers that can be loaded with palm-length cartridges designed to penetrate heavy armor a mile away; and that are, according to Christie, necessary for “recreational pastimes.” Christie carved up the two other bills and sent them back to the legislature with conditional vetoes. From a bill that supporters called a “national model” for overhauling how states conduct background checks and issue firearm permits, Christie cut provisions to digitally embed firearm permits in a gun owner’s driver’s license, to include private sales in the instant background check system and to require prospective gun owners to take a short safety course. “None of the technology necessary for this system exists,” Christie said that would link firearm permits with state ID. Christie also gutted a law requiring state officials to report data about lost and stolen firearms, along with those seized in association with a crime, to federal databases. ~ JGT

Dear John, I am not for sale. Signed, Dr. Mom

Wow! This has got to be one of the best letters I have ever read. This woman, mother, doctor really does have her stethoscope pressed tightly on the pulses of her family & I believe America as well. Bravo. You Go Girl!!! ~JGT~

Dear John, I am not for sale. Signed, Dr. Mom

The patient-physician relationship is like no other. One cannot fathom the depth of love for a child until she becomes a mother. One cannot fathom the devotion to a patient until she becomes a physician. I recall my heart fibrillating the day I received an urgent call in the operating room in the midst of a complex ocular trauma case from my three year old daughter’s preschool teacher informing me that no one had picked my baby girl up. My life was at that moment consumed, my being, one with the precious patient that teetered on the edge of blindness and disfigurement. My life was consumed, so much so that I had forgotten that I was a mother, so much so that a precious little girl watched and waited on a curb until trust and smiles morphed into disappointment and tears. But, she was not alone; she stood like a soldier beside a lone little boy, the son of the Chairman of Neurology. I was supposed to have picked him up too.

CEO’s of the likes of Aetna, Blue Cross, “non-profit” hospitals, and drug companies and politicians, the likes of our President, his appointees, and his operatives, callously, if not sinisterly, take advantage of the enigmatic phenomenon that is the patient-physician relationship. This is a despicable, intolerable scenario that will not serve these life-blood-sucking elitists well, particularly in a day when over 50% of medical students are women.

After felonious passage, the unread, paradoxically named “Affordable Care Act” is being rewritten, 28 times thus far, by one man with a pen and a phone, for political expediency, power and money. The CEO-politician relationship is the antithesis of the patient-doctor relationship, the very relationship that the one man’s pen so whimsically and abusively defiles. The former is based on and perpetuated by lies. The latter is based on truth.

As a woman physician/mother devoted to my patients, children, and pursuit of truth, I was aghast when I logged on to the one man and his operatives’ HHS.gov website only to discover that my services are for sale at the stroke of his pen by his Aetna and Blue Cross CEO pals. I was never asked or told that my life-long-cultivated skills, God-given talents, and soul would be peddled on a risky, back-door-undone, discriminatory marketplace. I was tricked.

Dear Johns,

I am not for sale.

You may not use me and my works to discriminate against my fellow American patients, much less for your profit. I will not serve one patient under one set of rules and another patient under a different set of your pen’s usurious rules. You lie to me and my patients. I call you out. You falsely advertise my services. You profess “access to care” for your members using false advertising when you list me as one of your “providers”. You trick patients, who you call members; I will not be tricked by you. By the way, I am a doctor not a provider.

You sell nothing but empty promises without me and my colleagues. You can’t deliver. You are exposed. My colleagues and I will go forward in a new, parallel universe in which we will deliver actual medical care at actually affordable prices. You will be frozen, exposed in the cold of your calculated, Alinskyite lies. The American patient will awaken from your Orwellian-trance and be angry with you.

The Chairman of Neurology was not angry with me. His son, the little boy on the curb, grew up strong, not victimized, able to brush off hard knocks, and pursues success as an up-and-coming artist. The Chairman’s wife was not angry with me. She and her daughter are nurses, gutting it up to treat others in the trenches. Those of us that have shared the rite of passage to become physicians or nurses know, pursue, and defend the unspoken truths.

The little girl on the curb is not angry with me; she grew up strong. She guttses it up, stands for truth, and works to serve others. She, my baby girl, receives her M.D in 3 months. My second daughter survived her waits on the curb in similar courageous fashion and is presently a medical student too, in the footsteps of her grandfather, mother, and big sister.

As for me, doctor mom, I have four amazing daughters. 50% of my women are physicians-in-training in medical school classes composed of 50% women- women who are not victims, women who stand for truth, women who work hard, and women who will not be bought and sold against their will by Dear Johns who peddle false bills of goods because they think we are weak and worthless. I have thousands of precious patients with whom I share sacred patient-physician relationships. As for me, patient mom, I share the sacred inviolable patient-physician relationship with my own physicians and surgeons who rescue me from the ravages of cancer. I fathom the depth of their love. This knowing compels me to fight until the ink runs dry at the tip of Dear John’s phony pen.

Am I angry? Yes. How long will I fight? I will fight until the American patient wins the war on medicine. I will fight until the American woman wins the real war on women-the one that spews from the phony pen of the phony Dear Johns on the left. Fathom that.

DEATH PENALTY OPPONENTS, HAVE I GOT A DEAL FOR YOU (by Ann Coulter)

DEATH PENALTY OPPONENTS, HAVE I GOT A DEAL FOR YOU (Article written by Ann Coulter, May 14, 2014)

As described in last week’s column, The New York Times and other sanctimonious news outlets censored details about the crime that put Clayton Lockett on death row, the better to generate revulsion at his deserved execution. You might say they buried the facts alive.

For example, the Times neglected to mention anything about the raping that preceded the murdering, which seems odd for a newspaper so consumed with the “War on Women.” (At least Lockett never refused to pay for a woman’s birth control pills!)

The Times also dropped the part about Lockett’s dangerous behavior while incarcerated, such as ordering hits on the witnesses against him, his threats to kill prison guards, and the bounty of homemade weapons seized from him in prison — saw blades, sharpened wires, shivs and shanks. (Old Times motto: “All the News That’s Fit to Print.” New Times motto: “Nobody Likes a Rat.”)

The newspaper also failed to report that Lockett had ended up in an adult prison by the age of 16 and then was convicted of four more felonies before committing the torture-murder of Stephanie Neiman that sent him to death row.

No, that information might distract from the Times’ florid descriptions of Lockett’s execution.

Bless their hearts, they gave it their all, but even the Times could not make Lockett’s “botched” execution sound particularly grisly. Here is the paper’s full, terrifying description:

“According to an eyewitness account by a reporter for The Tulsa World, Mr. Lockett tried to raise himself up, mumbled the word ‘man,’ and was in obvious pain. Officials hastily closed the blinds on the chamber and told reporters that the execution had been stopped because of a ‘vein failure.’ But at 7:06, the inmate was pronounced dead of a heart attack.”

HE RAISED HIMSELF UP? WHAT KIND OF COUNTRY ARE WE???

Actually, I’m not that horrified. It sounds as if he suffered a bit, which is nice, and he’s dead, which was the objective of the whole enterprise.

You want horrifying? Imagine a 2-inch baby being chopped up with scissors. That can’t feel great.

Maybe they — and MSNBC’s similarly high-minded Rachel Maddow — should comfort themselves by thinking of Lockett’s execution as a very, very, very late-term abortion. You know, the kind that liberal darling Wendy Davis filibustered for 11 hours to keep legal.

Since Rachel and the Times are such big fans of partial-birth abortion, would they mind if we took a gigantic pair of scissors, jammed them in the back of Clayton Lockett’s head and let his brain slide out? Let’s get Kermit Gosnell working again!

Or how about giving the citizens of Oklahoma the right to choose an acid bath for condemned murderers? We’ll submerge people like Lockett in a tub filled with burning fluid until he’s mostly disintegrated and can be flushed down the toilet. (If it’s low-flow, flush twice.)

Or maybe an industrial vacuum designed to tear Lockett’s body apart.

Which reminds me: Would the Times ever give as detailed a description of an abortion as it does for the execution of a remorseless killer? The odds are pretty high that the baby isn’t even a rapist/murderer.

Opposition to the death penalty has nothing to do with compassion. Liberals weeping for murderers have zero compassion for an innocent baby trying to escape an abortionist’s cranioclast. Their dead earnestness about monsters like Clayton Lockett is solely designed to demonstrate how virtuous they are.

It will come as a surprise to the sort of person who works at the Times, but there are lots of people who don’t go through life trying to prove they’re better than everyone else. They don’t think to themselves: Listen to NPR? Check. Got the kids into a fancy preschool? Check. Now, what’s that little extra for experts? … Defend depraved murderers! Check!

Manifestly, these death penalty hysterics do not care about the victims of crime. But they don’t really care about the killers, either. Their only objective is to increase their self-esteem.

This is why liberal arguments against the death penalty are always circular. It’s not about logic; it’s about their conception of themselves.

U.S. pharmaceutical companies won’t sell lethal injection drugs to the states because they don’t want to be sued and harassed by anti-death penalty activists. European pharmaceutical companies refuse to sell the drugs to the U.S. because they’re so deeply committed to human rights — as we saw around the middle of the last century.

Then they all turn around and complain when crummy substitutes fail to produce nice, peaceful exits for heinous murderers. (You know — like they gave their victims.)

It’s exactly like the left’s complaint that the death penalty “costs too much.”

Q: Why is it so expensive?

A: Because we sue, drag the cases out forever with endless appeals and require states to spend millions of dollars on legal costs.

How about we cut the Euros and lefty activists out of the execution process altogether with a voluntary firing squad? It’s quick, it’s effective and the whole community gets to participate!

The state could run ads in newspapers giving detailed accounts of the condemned man’s crime — all that stuff The New York Times frantically hides from its readers — and then ask: “Would you be interested in being assigned to his firing squad?”

The Supreme Court has defined “cruel and unusual punishment” as something that offends society’s “evolving sense of decency.” When we see how many people volunteer for the firing squad, we’ll at least have a back-of-the-envelope estimate on whether society’s “evolving sense of decency” is more offended by the death of Clayton Lockett or that of Stephanie Neiman.

I know I’d volunteer. Having read the truth about what psychopaths like Clayton Lockett have done, I’d pay for the opportunity, especially if they promise my gun won’t have a blank.

This evil, diabolical man was a cold-blooded killer and a mad dog prisoner who evidently never showed a moment’s remorse in all the years since he shot 19-year-old Stephanie Neiman twice after repeatedly raping & sodomizing her before burying her alive in 1999. Lockett was convicted in 2000 of first degree murder, rape, kidnapping, assault & battery, burglary, and robbery. In my opinion, Lockett got exactly what he deserved but unfortunately suffered less than his young victim. ~JGT~

Common Core or Obama Core?

54395606Common Core standards have been derided as a federal takeover of state education by some conservative critics. But a poll shows support for the reforms, even among GOP primary voters. Common Core is an educational curriculum being forced upon the states by the Obama administration, which was partially implemented in 2013. Thus far, 44 states are participating. Common Core eliminates local control over K-12 curriculum in math and English, instead imposing a one-size-fits-all, top-down curriculum that will also apply to private schools and homeschoolers.

Superficially, it sounds good. It creates universal standards that supposedly educate all children for college. But along with the universal standards come a myriad of problems, which the administrators of Common Core are disingenuously denying. The American Principles Project released an analysis last year of Common Core, exposing the duplicitous language. Common Core describes itself as “internationally benchmarked,” “robust,” “aligned with college and work expectations,” “rigorous,” and “evidence-based.”

Common Core proponents claim that it is not a federal mandate, instead using language like “state-led” and “voluntary.” The Common Core website asserts, “The federal government was NOT involved in the development of the standards.” It states that Common Core is not a national curriculum, but “a clear set of shared goals and expectations for what knowledge and skills will help our students succeed.”  Contrary to what Common Core supporters claim; that the states participated; the opposite is actually true. There was minimal public engagement in the development of the Common Core. Their creation was neither grassroots nor did it emanate from the states.  Instead, Common Core is being driven by policymakers in D.C.

Common Core shifts away from classic literature and allows for the reading of informational texts. Now, what are informational texts?   Those are handbooks from the EPA on how to make sure that your siding and your insulation is good in your house & Planned Parenthood about how birth control & abortion are good for you. Who in their right mind wants to read the government handbooks? Most kids don’t really like reading already so can you imagine how much they’ll hate it by the time they’re in high school; having spent most of their school years reading, “informational texts” instead of classics like, “Huckleberry Finn”, “The Great Gatsby” or “the Catcher in the Rye”? I would personally have missed out on a lot had I not read “Atlas Shrugged” while in High School.  Can you imagine writing a book report on recycling trash instead of a hero or heroine’s journey of adventure? By the time Obama’s Federally-run education system is finished, our children will have absolutely no imagination left. They will all grow up to be “Obamabots” and just like George Orwell’s book, “1984” (another great book I read in high school), there will be tight monitoring systems placed upon them starting with  “bio wristbands”!

Example; As soon as Hitler and his Nazi Party came to power in 1933, they began to mold the children of the German nation. No longer would school simply be about reading, writing, and arithmetic. Reading would be taught by telling the story of Hitler, Savior of Germany. A written essay might be about human genetics as it related to a racially pure Folk. And an arithmetic lesson might involve the number of miles one would have to travel to find Lebensraum (living room) for the exploding German population. Teachers were no longer able to use their own judgment and common sense. Their lesson plans were laid out for them by the state, and it was made clear that they had no choice but to teach Nazi propaganda.

Did you know that throughout the United States, Teacher’s Unions are filled with many members that are actually members of Communist & Socialist Political Parties and that they push their ideals on our younger teachers so that they bring it back and then pass them along to our children?

There is so much more that I can say here, but I don’t want to go on and rant any longer than I already have today. I’m already upset and it is not even 9:00 AM in the morning. So~ I leave it to the American People to decide. It is not too late for states to opt-out of Common Core. Write or call your state representatives and your Governor and voice your opinion. It is our right as Taxpaying American Citizens to do so. No defeatist attitudes here. WE are Americans & WE can do Anything we set our minds to! Our children need to grow up as free-thinking, imaginative individuals and NOT suffer through life as closed-minded, entitlement-grubbing slaves to our Federal Government & Obama’s Socialist Agenda. ~JGT
